The 2014 FIFA World Cup™ will be remembered as one of the liveliest and most colourful football events ever. Hundreds of thousands of football fans from around the world came to experience the power of the vuvuzela, as well as some memorable football.
The 2014 extavaganza was the first World Cup to be held in Brazil. Those who experienced it, will never forget it. During the month of the tournament, Brazil silenced all critics who believed the tournament would be a flop for various reasons.
The ultimate goal of the 2014 FIFA World CupTM was to harness the power of football to create positive social change. An improved public transport system and better-skilled and equipped safety and security, health, emergency services, accommodation and tourism providers are just some of the lasting legacies of 2014.
New urban recreational areas and multi-disciplinary sports facilities will benefit all, whilst many previously disadvantaged communities are currently benefitting from job opportunities in the construction of infrastructure and telecoms networks across the country. Four revamped and 6 new world-class, multi-purpose stadiums will continue to stimulate regional economies and provide jobs for many years to come.
